We’ve announced a bunch of shows in England in September, including a few places we’ve never been before. Details are all over on the shows page, and there are some ace support acts lined up too.
Thanks to all of those who came out to see us and The Wave Pictures in the US, it was an amazing time. Great shows, awesome people, the best of times.
We’re in the early stages of plotting some more European shows and a very small number of Australian (!) shows. More details soon but we’re dead excited.
Our next show will be at the amazing Indietracks festival on 7 July, and then a one off show in Paris on the 10th July.
See you soon,
Hey folks – just a reminder that the show with Herman Dune is a super early one. We’re on at 7.30. Curfew is 10.15 and after that it’s G-A-Y Porn Idol. No, really!
Europe is digitally released today in the US! Physical releases are coming shortly. And yes, we are releasing this album on cassette, since you asked! Limited to 100 copies, handmade by the lovelyFika label.
UK folk – you can perhaps persuade Sean from Fortuna POP! to sell you a copy if you’re coming to our show with Herman Dune this Thursday.
Otherwise, we might see you at the Rough Trade show for Record Store Day on Saturday (West) or next Monday (East).
Hello hello. Massive thanks to everyone who came along to our UK tour. It was definitely the most successful tour we’ve ever done. We were really chuffed that we could do most of the tour with indie promoters we’ve known for years, and that we got to play with such awesome bands like Standard Fare, Tigercats, This Many Boyfriends, Moustache of Insanity and Milky Wimpshake.
There’s a few more UK shows before we head off to the US of A with The Wave Pictures in April, including one with one of our favourite bands, Herman Dune. Details for those are on the showspage.
We’ve also been announced as one of the headliners for Indietracks this year. We’re pretty overjoyed about that as well. You should all come.
Did you all see this? Made by the talented Mr Nik Vestberg and Mr Grant Wilkinson.
North American fans can now order Capricornia from Slumberland records here, the rest of the world can order it from Fortuna Pop! here.
Europe is now available for pre-order from Rough Trade. North Americans please get yours from the aforementioned Slumberland website.
Finally, a while ago I did an interview with Bobby Barry (the sexy baritone on “Dreaming”) and it’s just been published on the Quietus website. You can read it here.

New Sheffield venue announced
Hey guys. Due to an amazing demand in Sheffield, our show there has now moved to a much bigger venue. We’re now playing Queens Social Club, which is 400 capacity! All original tickets are still valid and those who missed out on tickets first time around can now get them HERE. It’s an amazing line-up with support from our old pals Standard Fare, This Many Boyfriends and The Passing Fancy. It’s a Friday night too and only 7 quid in, so you really don’t want to miss it.
Tickets for the other UK shows have been selling quickly as well so if you’re planning on coming please do buy one in advance. All details are over on the shows page.
Bye for now
We’ve had some sad news over the last couple of days. The girl in the picture above was Esme, a dear friend of our friend Herbie, who is also pictured. Tragically, Esme was murdered in her home after a New Year’s Eve party in Austin, by all accounts attacked by a stranger who also attacked two other women that night.
It seems like Esme was one special girl. News of her death was showing up all over the internet from people who had no connection to each other but a connection to her and to us. She meant the world to the people who knew her, and their expressions of love and grief have really touched us. She worked with special needs children and also worked as a camp counsellor and mentor at Girls Rock Camp in Austin.
It turns out Esme was a fan of our band, and if our tour in the South West hadn’t been cancelled because of our visa problems last year, it’s more than likely we would have met her.
This morning we were sent pictures of tattoos that some of her friends have got in memory of Esme, with some of our lyrics written in ink on their skin. This has moved us very much also.
In New York City a benefit has been organised to help Esme’s family pay for her funeral. If you live in New York, details of that show are here.
If you’d like to contribute to Esme’s funeral fund, you can do so here.
Our love and thoughts go out to all of Esme’s friends, some of whom are our friends, and also to the ones we do not know. We’re looking forward to hanging out soon.
Look after each other
